Madesta Wiscombe

Oil painting | Tile Work | Block Carving | Photography | Interior Design

Professional treasure hunter and artist Madesta Wiscombe whose creative reach spans oil painting, tile mosaics, block carving, photography, and interior design. She is always searching for new perspectives in nature, hidden gems in thrift stores, and the small details that others might overlook.

Originally from Salmon and raised in Lewiston, Madesta balances her life as a nursery nurse at St. Joe’s, a full-time mom to two adventurous boys, and wife to what she lovingly calls “the craziest boy.” Though art took a pause during the early years of motherhood, she’s rediscovering her creative spark through experimentation, and chasing that electric obsession that comes at the start of every project.

Madesta’s love for thrifting shines brightest in Hedera, where she and Jeremy sourced nearly every piece secondhand. From a Twilight CD tucked into an old Walkman to a row of Louis L’Amour westerns and even a wooden duck in the window, every corner was curated to spark a sense of nostalgia and connection. For her, the most rewarding part of Hedera has been watching visitors notice the little things, each finding their own thread of familiarity woven into the space.

While she laughs about never having had a client, Madesta dreams of creating art that others can find joy in too. For now, she thrives in the process, the hunt, and the perspectives that inspire her, and just being super cool. Of course, her two boys already think she’s pretty neat.

• What kind of art or activity inspires you most?

To be completely honest, our oldest, Meyer, sees the world differently than most people. He notices little things that most people miss like the shape of his shadow, patterns that are barely noticeable and light refractions. I love watching him find joy in those little things. He’s really what’s been my inspiration for wanting to see others peoples perspectives.

• Who are your favorite artists?

Lately I’ve been really into western style paintings. I love Sarah Dean, Barbara Peets, Mark Maggiori and Jeff Weir. I also love Isaac Spotts wildlife photography.

• What one piece of art would you own with no limit?

Id love to own any piece by any of the artist above but specifically Jeff Wier’s paintings have been really inspiring to me lately.

• What gets you in the creative mindset?

Anything with nostalgic vibes. 90’s country, Paramore and Neon trees radio on Spotify are always my go to.
